LIT

Ages 15 - 16 | Co-ed | Overnight Camp

Our Leaders In Training program is for teens ages 15 and 16 who are interested in learning to become leaders at camp, in their home, school or church communities.

LIT is a three-week program. The focus of the first two weeks (July 6–11 & July 13–18) is for LITs to build community with one another through interactive sessions, participation in camp activities, and an out-trip. Sessions focus on both spiritual development and practical training. These sessions and character-building activities help teens deepen their faith and explore their questions about God while they learn the qualities of a great leader, how to provide excellent customer service, how to communicate effectively, how to provide care and mentorship to a younger child, and more.

Activities included in the first two weeks are wall climbing, high ropes, initiative course, one horseback riding session, archery, crafts, swimming, and more. LIT’s will also go on an out-trip, participate in campfires, theme meals, and job shadowing.

LITs return to camp for a third week to participate in a placement week. Participants will be placed in a support role at camp and put into practice what they have been learning. Many LITs return for their placement week from July 20-25, but can return anytime during the summer as pre-arranged.

After a successful placement week, most LITs are encouraged and invited to volunteer at camp.

LIT’s must complete an additional application and be accepted into this program.

Please contact our office for information about our Camper Scholarship Program if finances are a barrier in your child attending LIT. There are scholarship funds available specifically for the LIT program, and we don’t want anyone to miss out on the opportunity to participate.
